Josh sits down with Grass Sticks founder Andrew Beckler. Grass Sticks was born with the intention to get people excited about their ski poles and SUP paddles. Before Andrew began Grass Sticks he noticed that people weren’t getting particularly excited about ski poles and he wanted to change that. Having been an extremely active member of the ski community, it was easy for him to prototype every chance he could and truly come up with an incredibly lightweight, and durable product that could perform on all levels. With their newest SUP paddle and their hand-over-fist growth in the past few years, we’re excited to see what turns Grass Sticks will take next!

To find out more behind how BLDG Active got its start and what’s in store for the future, Josh interviews BLDG Active founder, Justin Gardner. BLDG Active is NOT your average skin repair or first aid product but, it is certainly something that everyone should have. Before officially starting BLDG, Justin had been working on getting what we now recognize as BLDG into hospitals and specifically for hospital use. After frequently taking home some samples for personal use and as a supplemental first aid product during his outdoor excursions he began to completely rethink whose hands his product should truly be in. Now BLDG isn’t just something that can be exclusively found in hospitals but something Justin hopes will be in every home and on every adventure.

Josh sits down with College Outside founder Sarah Lockwood. College Outside blossomed in 2013 but, Sarah truly dug her roots into the outdoor scene while attending Tufts University. As a hugely active member in Tufts Mountain Club, Sarah naturally gravitated towards the outdoor industry and began College Outside as a fun side hustle after graduation. It wouldn’t be until a few years later that Sara would dive into College Outside in full force. Now College Outside is responsible for helping get deals and discounts for college clubs and groups to help keep the outdoors and outdoor sports accessible.

Josh sits down with Proof founder Tanner Dame. To tell the story of Proof Eyewear we need to go beyond the their official launch date of 2010 and start in 1954 when the Dame brother’s grandfather started a sawmill in Idaho. It was at that very sawmill that Tanner and his brothers would create their first pair of wooden sunglasses which would spare a fire and passion to create. In this episode Josh has the luxury of sitting down with Tanner as he talks about how he combined family values, sustainable materials, and strong social action to create Proof Eyewear, and how a simple pair of wooden sunglasses turned into a blossoming and boom outdoor startup.

Josh sits down with Flying Squirrel Outfitters founder Brian Carraway. Flying Squirrel Outfitters doesn't just stand out with a unique hammock design, they stand for a cause. After Brian moved from Seattle to Chang Mai in northern Thailand, he fell deeply into the world of entrepreneurship bringing his passion for hammocks with him. With that, he wanted to create a business model that would help raise the quality of life from some of the small villages in northern Thailand.
