Josh sits down with Mishmi Takin founder Kapil Dev Singh. Mishmi Takin is a brand making high performance, high quality boots, waterproof jackets and softshells with the focus on making them more breathable. While breathable gear may not be a new idea, Mishmi Takin focuses on producing gear optimized for hot and humid environments and environments often overlooked by bigger box brands on the market. The idea for Mishmi Takin came from the exact place of its namesake; Singh was hiking the hills of Mishmi when he was caught in a downpour and realized his gear just wasn’t cutting it. After a soppy trek back home he was sparked with the idea of making some gear of his own. Singh is also no stranger to the outdoors and gear being an avid hiker and running six marathons to date. Oh, did we mention he has  a background and extensive experience in supply chains and engineering (talk about cut out for the job)? With all that experience, credentials, and passion, it’s clear to us it’s all uphill from here for Mishmi Takin.

Josh sits down with Drift Products founder Dave Rupp. Drift Products makes a streamlined option for traversing the backcountry to help snowboarders, skiers, and winter hikers more mobile in pow. Drift products, like many brands, was born out of necessity but, has pioneered a new product, their drift boards, by combining a snowshoe, cross-country skis, and backcountry skins. The idea was originally conceived in 2012 while Rupp was searching for a quicker and easier way to get into the backcountry with his quiver board and without having to opt for a splitboard. Having grown hand over fist since their successful Kickstarter campaign, Drift’s success has been rapidly growing, raising the burning question of what’s next for this budding brand.

Josh sits down with Drop Brand Manager Chris Gougeon. Drop is a goggle and snow accessory brand that has been around for quite a while (since the late 90’s in fact) however, they recently made a game changing switch to become a direct-to-consumer brand. Why is this important? This means that Drop can deliver one of the best goggle options on the market, a truly premium product at one of the most competitive price points. In this episode, we have the pleasure of dissecting what prompted this change as well as the process of switching over from being a retail driven business to direct to consumer as well as all the ups and downs that went with it.
