Josh sits down with Montem Outdoor Gear co-founder Joseph Passalacqua. Montem creates gear that was crafted with all the best parts of your favorite gear without any of the downsides and at a fraction of the cost. Although Passalacqua was born and raised in NYC he still was able to keep his passion for the outdoors alive especially after being introduced to his partner and fellow hiking fanatic, Kevin Urrutia. After testing critically and physically testing various brands, they took note of the things they liked, the things they didn’t like and started crafting their first product, Ultra Strong Trekking Poles. Since then, they’ve added quite an impressive array of products all with the mindset of pushing the envelope on gear quality set at a competitive price point. Josh sits down with Survivor Filter founder Mark Zakaib. Survivor Filter is a water filtration manufacturer dedicated to building solutions to access to clean water in any outdoor, emergency, or travel situation. Surprisingly enough, Mark doesn't come from a business background. Before starting Survivor Filter his career was rooted in academia and found himself bouncing around the world of global affairs. While musing to be more active in peacekeeping, it became clear that water scarcity is the biggest crisis that no one talks about in the context of climate change. With this new spark and direction, he decided to focus his efforts on providing a way for people to have access to clean drinking water leading up to the start of Survivor Filter.
Josh sits down with Lumos Helmet co-founder Eu-wen Ding. Lumos is a Singapore based company that makes helmets with built-in lights and LEDs to keep you illuminated while riding. As biking becomes more and more popular within cities, sharing the road with cars becomes more and more treacherous and Lumos Helmets’ response to this is making sure everyone on the road has proper visibility. Lumos Helmet functions similarly as a car in this way; with front and rear lights, controllable turn signals, and the rear light even lights up when you slow down. The design of the world’s first smart bike helmet is truly a no brainer but, where did the idea come from and how did this thing get developed? Stay tuned and find out!

Josh sits down with Böker CEO Carsten Felix. Böker is a 300 year old blade manufacturer founded on history, passion, and tradition. Based in ‘The City of Blades’ they are the largest manufacturer for sporting and outdoor knives in europe. It’s rare that we have companies on here that are this old but there’s something to be said for those that stand the test of time, especially with so many competitors rising after its initial inception.
